SKRUM visits 200th School

Mr. Martin Mashaba the Head Teacher of Inkanyeti School welcomed the SKRUM Coaches to his school and was surprised to hear Inkanyeti was the 200th school the SKRUM Programme has visited. Inkanyeti School is situated in the City of Manzini and caters for both Primary and Secondary school pupils. 

Bookham Football Club Raises Money for SKRUM

Bookham Football Club included SKRUM in their recent charity auction.  Bob Elcome from the club said that they were "pleased to help a very worthy and valid cause".  The auction raised £365 for SKRUM, proving that you don't have to play rugby to support SKRUM!

Watford Grammar School for Boys Raises Money for SKRUM

Kate Harvey of SKRUM receives the cheque from John Williams (Director of Sport) and Harry ThorogoodKate Harvey of SKRUM receives the cheque from John Williams (Director of Sport) and Harry ThorogoodNot content with hosting and competing against the the Swaziland U14 rugby team during a Touraid initiative in 2007, Watford Grammar School for Boys gave another helping hand to the country by raising £800 for SKRUM.  The pupils raised the money during a non-uniform day in January.   The school also collected rugby kit which was sent over to SKRUM for distribution to the children of Swazliand.

KIA Motors Swaziland MD Mr. Danny Lee handed the keys over to SKRUM CEO Michael Collinson at the SKRUM offices in Malkerns. Collinson thanked Danny and said although we had to wait for the new model Sportage, looking at the car it was well worth the wait.

St Andrew's PrimarySt Andrew's PrimarySt Andrew's Primary made the short trip to the Malkerns Club to meet the SKRUM Coaches for a day of Rugby. Forty three pupils made the short walk to attand the Rugby Day and all were eager to start running with a Rugby ball.

 

 

 

St Anne's Girls' High

The tackleThe tackleSituated in the Malkerns Valley a short drive from the SKRUM offices, St Anne's High School for girls gave a huge welcome to the SKRUM Coaches.  Headteacher, Mrs Ntezunde met the Coaches at the school gate and led the girls in a welcome song.  Head Development Coach Mario De Sousa thanked Mrs Ntezunde and said he was overwhelmed with the greeting.

 

 

Osuthu Methodist High

Making the break!Making the break!Thick fog and rain didn't deter the SKRUM Coaches from making the trip into the mountains to visit Osuthu Methodist High School situated in the west of Swaziland near the border with South Africa.  "We called and were assured that the weather was fine at the school. It was hard to believe with the weather so bad in the valley, but we went," said Mario De Sousa. 

 

 

Sipho signs on at 30th School

Mahlanya PrimaryMahlanya PrimaryThe Sipho logo is now seen by pupils at thirty schools throughout the Kingdom. The SKRUM Coaches finished painting the 30th Sipho at Mahlanya Primary this afternoon. SKRUM CEO Michael Collinson was at Mahlanya to thank Mrs. Hlangetwa, the Headteacher, not only for allowing the SKRUM Coaches to introduce Rugby at her school, but also to allow SKRUM to paint Sipho on her school walls.

 

 

16 Teachers attend Teacher Coaches Workshop

Lungile Magongo, Mpaka Railway PrimaryLungile Magongo, Mpaka Railway PrimaryWednesday saw sixteen teachers attend the Rugby Teacher Coaches Workshop held in Manzini. The teachers came from schools spread throughout the Kingdom braved the heat and long journeys to participate in the workshop, and they were welcomed by SKRUM CEO Michael Collinson. Collinson explained that the workshop would concentrate on the practical side of the game of Rugby and that most of the workshop would be spent outside on the playing field.

 

Mabamba Primary happy with Rugby kit

The Rugby equipment, consisting of Rugby balls and cones, were donated through the Schools' Rugby Development Programme. SKRUM Development Coach, Mario De Sousa handed over the equipment to Mrs. Mdluli and Sports Teacher, Mr. Thualani Nkomo.
